PUSHA T SAYS NEW ALBUM IS FUSION OF BIGGIE, MA$E & RZA

G.O.O.D. Music member Pusha T is prepping the release of his debut album My Name Is My Name for later this year. This weekend at the Coachella Music Festival the emcee spoke with Fuse about the project and revealed that he sees it as a combination of Notorious B.I.G.’s Life After Death,
Ma$e’s Harlem World, and RZA’s production of Only Built For Cuban Linx.
“Those are like the perfect moods in description of diversity of what I want to hear in rap,” said Pusha. “The raw RZA edge… the lyricism of a Biggie… the arrogance of a Ma$e in Harlem World.”
Pusha goes on to talk about using R&B sounds on the album as well, but he also makes it clear his LP will have a traditional Hip-Hop vibe.
“I want some of my album to sound like a mixtape,” said Push. “I want it to have that rap feel. Uncompromised rap feel.”
Pusha also reveals that Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, Swizz Beatz, Rico Beats, Nottz, Don Cannon, and Hudson Mohawke will handle the producing on My Name Is My Name.
Features will include Kanye, Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Future, and members of the Re-Up Gang.
The Clipse rapper recently dropped the song “Numbers On The Board,” and in a previous interview stated that a single with Kanye called “I Am” will be available soon.
He also says he has recorded a verse for an upcoming project by his brother and fellow Clipse emcee Malice.
Pusha expects to announce the release date for the album sometime over the next week.
