After setting the internet on fire last night by dropping the new track “Cole Summer,” Roc Nation’s J. Cole decided he wasn’t done sharing some of his unreleased music just yet. In an early morning tweet, the Fayetteville, North Carolina native suggested Truly Yours 2, the follow-up to his EP that came out in February, is coming soon.
The first Truly Yours was a 5-track project that contained Cole’s version of Nas’ “Stay” and “Can I Holla At Ya” which featured a sample of “To Zion” by Lauryn Hill.
Cole appears to be a fan of Ms. Hill’s music. On “Cole Summer” he raps over the former Fugees member’s “Nothing Even Matters.” The original was a neo-soul duet between Hill and D’Angelo that appeared on the Grammy-winning The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill.
Truly Yours 2 is will be just an appetizer for J. Cole fans as they await the arrival of his sophomore album Born Sinner. The LP’s lead single, “Power Trip” featuring Miguel, is a Top 40 hit, and its chilling video already has over 5 million views on YouTube in less than a month.
Born Sinner is due out on June 25th. Look out for Truly Yours 2 on May 1st.
